Community

Kidco Construction Ltd. is very used to working within the confines of the city. The majority of our work over the last 25 years has been within the city limits. We are very aware of the potentially damaging effects that “city” construction can have on the surrounding neighborhoods.

Unfortunately a by-product of our work is noise. This is of concern to existing communities. We follow all of the stipulated bylaws for operation hours, and, if possible, work in more remote locations of the site during the early morning hours.

Dust control on projects of this size is of paramount importance. The main method of dust control will be through the use of water trucks. Generally, the ability of water trucks to maintain the dust on a site is adequate. We will actively monitor the conditions and will employ more water trucks should it be required. To minimize the area available for wind erosion, we will try to stage the projects in such a way that the minimum amount of native grassed topsoil is stripped away before it is absolutely necessary. This will reduce the potential for wind erosion.

From a safety and site control perspective, it is a good practice to limit the access to the site. We would utilize site access control measures to deter people from gaining entry at unauthorized locations.

When working large sites like the ones you propose, we get all of our employees to park in a specified muster point. This location is generally near a site access, and away from the current grading operation. By keeping all of the vehicles together we reduce any risk of an onsite accident. All deliveries and equipment drop-offs would be directed to the proper access point. Vehicles leaving the site will be held responsible for any mud/debris carried off the site onto the existing roadways. Gravel access pads will be made at the entrances to minimize the potential of hauling mud off of the sites.
